Hi Sky guarantee their products and they do ring up to see if you want to renew a warranty that is running out. And yes, it does cost about £75 for an engineer to call if you haven't got a warranty. Bt how much danger is your dish in? Normally it is the boxes that malfunction, rather than the dishes. How much would a local satellite shop charge to repair/replace a dish? Would the Warranty be cheaper? You should shop around before commiting to anything. And by the way, the usual time for things to go wrong is just after a warranty has expired. But it is your money and your choice.

i agree, in my experience it is the boxes that go bang, and not the dishes.I didn't take the extended warranty this time, and mine has just broken and it will cost about £70, but i have had it 2 years. In the past i have had a couple break down within the warranty period. with hindsight, maybe i should have taken the insurance this time!
I'm nice

Risk it and pay the 70 quid if it goes, had mine 4 years and so have my parents and sister, no problems at all.
Insurance is always a jip on stuff like that.

If your sky box goes and your warranty has run out phone them up and speak to them, ask how much it costs for a new box, when they tell you the price just say no thanks I cant afford it at the moment and say you will just cancel your subscription, they will soon offer you a new box. I did
