it is very odd lol Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling. |

my mum and biological father split before i was born. They weren't married, and he legged it so that he could marry another woman who he had also got pregnant! She says it was a lucky escape.Apart from once when i was about one, we never met and he is not on my birth certificate, and as such i don't think he had any parental rights.
My mums new partner that she later married, wanted to adopt me, but in the end they just changed my name to his. You don't need to do it officially, (or you didn't then)you just tell all the authorities that from now on you want your child to be known as X. It was never a problem for me, and i grew up with my step dad and half sisters as if we were all full blood relatives, which was really nice. no one knows that i have a different dad apart from a handful of people. rules might have changed since then (this was the 70's), but it was very easy to do it like this, and we had no problems. it was my decision not to do it officially. As a child, i found the idea of "being adopted" scary, and couldn't quite shake the fear that i might get adopted to different parents. don't know if that helps. probably not! I'm nice |
