Ok, so going from what you have just said... The router 'is' wireless and did let the Wii connect to the internet. The router is 'not' currently connected because you cannot get it to work after disconnecting it. You have a modem that used to connect to the router using one of the ports. Have you tried connecting the modem to the router with a cable on one port, connecting 'one' pc to the router using a cable on another port and then switching the router on? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- xxkezxx's Big Brother Original Tenter *huggles* n *kisses* for the ladies Rachel supporter #50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Ok, I am a little lost again. Can you confirm that the router is wireless? Has it got an aerial or two sticking up from it or has it only got four ports with no aerial? Can you give us the make and model of the router? That would help a lot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- xxkezxx's Big Brother Original Tenter *huggles* n *kisses* for the ladies Rachel supporter #50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Ok, just doing a quick search I found someone else asking how to setup that model. Hopefully that will give you an idea. There are further links in that which will be useful to you. Also this article from Microsoft may provide some help too. As I said, what you really need to do first is worry about getting one pc working before you worry about the rest. Take it in baby steps. That way the problems can be identified and (crossing fingers) worked out before you run around trying to set everything up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- xxkezxx's Big Brother Original Tenter *huggles* n *kisses* for the ladies Rachel supporter #50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

There are a few companies that offer a solution using a wan type affair. I know 'of' it, but don't know much about it (bare in mind I am only a lowly web developer not really a pc guru), but from what I have heard, the Vodaphone 3G option seems to be one that is talked of quite often. I found this link where the issue is being discussed and there seem to be a few variations suggested there. I should think most of the mobile phone suppliers would offer some solution but dont quote me on that. Of course, if you have a cable service like ntl, you don't need a phone to use their connection options. Sorry I could not really help. Maybe someone else knows of some reliable solutions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- xxkezxx's Big Brother Original Tenter *huggles* n *kisses* for the ladies Rachel supporter #50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

The 'only' thing you want the modem connected to is the router. The router has what is regarded as a hardware firewall built into it. This will not only work as a firewall but will be the point of entry if anyone ever tried getting into your network from the internet. This kind of goes back to the port forwarding that HEATSEEK mentioned earlier. The router will give you extra protection as long as you do not setup any kind of forwarding (which you will not have as default). Make sure the modem is connected to the router and 'no' pc's directly. If you have two ports on the modem, use one of those for the router and one for the (xbox or wii). At the end of the day we could talk you through how to connect all the pieces together, but you need to get one machine working with the router before you try to connect everything. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- xxkezxx's Big Brother Original Tenter *huggles* n *kisses* for the ladies Rachel supporter #50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
