Can anyone offer advice. I am divorced and now living with my new partner. My eldest daughter aged 4 seems to be having some adjustment problems. She is fine with my youngest daughter (aged 3) and my partners son (aged 2) but keeps fighting with my partners eldest daughter aged 5. She seems to purposely try to wind her up and be nasty. Not all the time, just when things aren't going her way. I know you are meant to ignore bad behaviour but this isn't practical when another child is getting upset. Any advice gratefully received.

Hello, My family split when i was young and i hated my dads wife and children with a passion. All i wanted was my dad to myself and i got these annoying twits in the way. Step familys are difficult. Just because you and your partner love each other doesn't mean all the children are going to get on. My step mother and dad have passed on now and i have nothing to do with my step-sister and brothers. Family outings together might be good so they are all being treated to the same and might bond more.My thoughts are with you my dear!!!

it could just be jealousy strawberry as that happens in most families wether its new step-siblings or a new baby.
i think she may calm down it just takes time.have you sat her down on her own(i know shes 4 but it can be done)and talked to her about anything that may be upsetting her i find this works well with my 3 yr old and it shows them that they can confide in you.i dont think ignoring bad behaviour necessarily works you need to find the root of the problem.

i hope you sort it out maybe as she grows she will come through this and learn from it too.
