Hi, I'm thinking of taking up childcare for a career but can't decide which route to take. I don't knw weather to go for an apprenticeship then onto an advanced apprenticeship or go to college and do my CACHE awards there. Please could you let me know what each involves and what you think is better and your views. Thanks [Especially nursery workers/managers/owners]
I have to say I started out doing the apprenticeship route, and there are so many other things that get in the way, and the work load can be annoying. I was full time at a nursery and doing an NVQ in early childcare studies, and it was a lot of work for me. I found it very annoying that I was having to write reams and reams of paprerwork when I was working hands on and found myself getting really frustrated. If you were going for an apprenticeship it is good if you could find a good tutor who will work hands on with observations, and visit you at your placement regularly. If going to college, enjoy it, put in the work, and enjoy the end result.
