To be fair your baby is only 5 months old, I know some people do not like using dummies, I did with my son, and he was 3 half when he finally got rid of his (santa had it), but I personally think 5 months is way too young, obviously the tiredness is all part of being a new mum, thats what parenting is all about, sleepless nights etc, sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but you have to take the bad with the good, my newphew use to hold dummies in each hand and one in his mouth or he would not go to sleep. Unfortunately your baby is use to a dummy at such an early age, so it's going to be difficult and hey they are a god send sometimes!

Just make sure he's not sucking on it by the time he has to go to school or he will be laughed at!

Ohh and when you do finally take it off him, make sure he doesn't suck his thumb instead as he will then become bucktoothed! Big Grin

My son was 5 years old when he finally agreed to get rid of his dummy. He sold it on ebay (my friend bought it but he didn't know that). He got £5.00 for it and thought his dummy had gone off to a new baby who needed it more.

5 months is WAY to young. They don't understand why you are taking it off them. You can't explain why and it would seem cruel if they like it for comfort.

She's in her 50's - why???? She bought it under the guise of someone buying a dummy for a new baby...
