I need advice my 22 month old is driving me mad with worry, she willo not have her feet measured when we go to clarkes she screams the shop down and we can never get new shoes on her. Also when we visit friends/family she does the same and will not enter the house, when we do get in the house she cries for a good 15 - 20 min until we leave or go into the garden. What can we do.

you can make it into a game, when buying shoes, before hand tell her where your going ask her what colour shoes she would like, with laces or buckels,or velcro ones,(maybe you can look at the shoes yourelf 1st to see what colours are in,and if she says a colour that isn't there make out that colour of shoe would look silly etc)or even ask her to do a spare colour just incase, then explain to her why she needs her feet measured, hope this helps a bitSmile, now for your friends house, does she like the people in it? are there any other kids there for her to play with?,or she just might be bored in the house so she cries etc, most kids like to know where they are going so tell her where she is going when she is in the car or in your own house.

Hi emma-louise

My daughter at that age (she's 4 now) used to cry when measuring her feet for shoes, maybe you've tried this already but I used let her bring her favourite toy for when the screaming starts Big Grin and explained to her what was happening and it worked for me.

With regards going to friends/family homes, I also have a son who is 22 mths old as well, and he used to kick up a fuss when we got to whoever's house. Again bringing a favourite or comfort toy if you like, kept him occupied when we first entered the house and by the time he was fed up of the toy he was more relaxed in the surroundings.

Hope this helps xxxx Smile

Or maybe get the toy's feet measured first and explain everything as you go along ie. "Oh look how good teddy it being have his feet measured" then give teddy a sticker, just a thought i had reading pgtipsy's post

And going to peoples houses, try not to go anywhere for a few weeks (if this is possible of course) maybe they will get bored of your house and be more willing? again just another thought.
