My partner died suddenly in Dec and I have 2 little girls - 3 and 2. I have said Daddy's in heaven and he can't come back but they both miss him so much and I don't know else to say or what to do - is anyone else in a similar situation or can give me any help at all?

I cannot really help, but would just like to say stay strong.

I know it is not the same, but I just lost my grandmother, and my son keeps saying 'we go to Nanny wales' when we visit my parents, and he just doesn't understand.

I have told him she is in the clouds and he looks up and says 'Nanny in there'.

I'm not in the same situation by any means (for what it's worth, nothing I know Smile I offer my complete sympathies to you all) but my bro-in-law died suddenly at the start of March.
Our little boy who turned 4 in April, absolutely adored him. He lost his grandmother on that side just before Christmas too.

So my two were ages 3 and 2yrs aswell. The little one hasn't grasped any of what we've said, i think they really aren't capable of it yet.

We explained gently that God in the sky likes to have people to help shine the stars. It's such an important job that everyone gets to do when they are older but some people he likes to have early as they are extra special and he must need them and can't wait for them.
We said that Uncle J has had to go and do his star job early. Then we pointed out a star and said there he is, he can see you so make sure you wave as he might not know a lot of people yet. We sent grandma a rocket on bonfire night too. Weirdly we got someone's burnt out one back in our garden the next morning and our little boy was so pleased that she'd sent it back Smile

We keep talking about him and about his job, talking as if it's fine, even though it's obviously hard. We wave to him and he "sent the birthday present down the chimney as he is too busy to drop it off." We just keep firmly but gently reminding that at the moment Uncle has the new important job and that one day when he isn't so busy helping with the stars we will see him again. We also re-iterate that Uncle is still there and can still look down to see him and hear him when he waves.

We also said grandma was doing a rubbish job as a star and they called up uncle to sort her out and he was so good they kept him - my little boy loved that!

All the best - you know what i mean Hug
