I am amazed that the opportunity has passed channel 4 by, to produce a well balanced and realistic view to parenthood. While I understand that the programme produced will be good for ratings and could be seen as enteraining to some, as a new mother myself I would have loved for a practical, well rounded view of parenting to have been included. The closest to this is the 1960's approach, however a good balance of all 3 methods would have brought the different ideas together and would have a been a useful reference for all new parents. Instead, I was left feeling upset for the babies who were left to cry for the vast amounts of time and guilty for the times when I have left my baby crying for 5 minutes to see if he would settle himself. Altogether very dissappointing. Whatever happened to sensible parenting. I feel very sorry for any mother to be who is watching this series who is now feeling even more overwhelmed with the task she has ahead and the choices she has to make.
