If you're pregnant and you're not keeping it, and you're booked into hospital for a scan and a D + C, whats the D + C?

D & C is dilatation and curettage, its also called Uterus scraping,

ive had 2 d+c's after my miscarriages they are very safe and its a quick operation.i didnt know they used them for that though.it is done under a general anesthetic usually and its a very safe op with not too many risks

Its just a quick, scraping out of the womb, a cleaning, nothing to it, have had it done.

i had to have it done after a misscarriage - it was very painful after. i wish i has the right councelling after as i got really depressed - and it was 2 children later when i finally said my goodbyes and made my peace. ive never had an aborsion and dont disagree with them if there done for the right reasons. i had a friend who kept getting pregnant and terminating them, which was her choice. then she fell pregnant with twins and got rid of them - again her choice, then not long after she got pregnant again and i said what are you going to do and she said oh i'll have to keep this one i cant get another termination on the nhs.
