It is really important not to lose the focus on what the real debate is about. It is not about whether parents should follow a routine or not. It is about innocent babies being used in an experient on national TV. The Truby King Method has long since been discredited. What we have to question is why Channel 4 chose to highlight methods that very few people use in this day and age. I do not believe for one minute that clients of Claire Verity allowed their baby to be left to cry for lengthy periods when hungry. Yet this is what she advocated on television. Many new and innocent parents may in desperation for sleep try this tough approach, which could have serious health implications for young babies.
However clever the editing was of this problem, the fact of the matter is that Claire verity advised strict four hourly feeding, giving no advice on how parents should decide whether their baby was genuinely hungry or not.
She also claimed that babies do not need to be held of cuddled, and that the maximum they should receive is ten minutes a day.

In order to get a tiny baby sleeping 12 hours at night, she advised that the baby's 11pm feed should be dropped and replaced with baby porriage. This meant that the 11 week old baby was denied all the essential vitamins and minerals that the milk feed provided. Baby porriage is no subsitute for the loss of these vitamins and minerals. So in effect another form of child neglect was imposed for one reason only to get the baby to sleep longer at night.

The FSID not recommend that baby's should not sleep in seperate rooms for daytime aleep as well as nightime sleep. She made no mention of this, and it is obvious that she has no knowledge of latest research or guidelines.

yes, I agree with you, Franco33. I am one of 752 people who complained to OFCOM but our complaints were not upheld. I just had their letter today. It's very disappointing.
