I have an 18 month old boy who was very ill with pneumonia about 6 months ago and since then he has not slept a whole night through.Before he was ill he would go in his cot after his bath and would sleep through with no problems.Now however,he refuses to go in his to sleeb on his own.I have tried putting him in a "big boys bed" and tried controlled crying and what feels like everything else!!!He will only go to sleep if he is held and wakes up as soon as he is put into his bed no matter how carefully it is done!!He ends up in my bed every night and wakes every morning between 4:30 and 5:30!I am at my wits end and dont know what to do!!!Please help me!!
Hi tails23 My son was exactly the same & by 1&1/2 I was exhausted all the time from interrupted sleep. What I ended up doing was putting him to bed and just leaving him! He cried for a good 45mins & it was very hard not to go to him. The next night I did the same and he cried for ages again. After me doing this several nights in a row and not going back on my committment to win this battle, he stopped crying as he reaslised it wasn't working for him any more. He now sleeps all night in his own bed. All the best :-)
