Any suggestions would be welcome on teaching my 6 year old son to ride his bike, I have took his stabilisers off about a month ago, he tries so hard, does not give up, but seems to be getting nowhere fast, he gets the peddle in position then just about goes round once and tries to put his other foot up, but always falls to the side, but as I say he does not give up, he so wants to do it, he has just got to get his balance, any suggestions on how I can progress further would be appreciated.
I haven't quite got to that stage with my children yet, but I did see something on TV the other day that might help.
I saw a father teaching his son how to ride his bicycle without stablizers for the first time. He used a brush handle inserted into the bike frame (it just slotted in behind the seat and was totally improvised) which he held onto to help give his son some balance until he got it himself.
I haven't tried it, but it looked like a good idea and it seemed to work very well.
Hi sillycat, that sounds brillient, thanks for that, when the sun comes out, i will try my son with that technique, it sounds very good, lets hope it works, thanks again
I just pushed my lot to give them a running start until they got the hang of it, They fall off and sometimes they cry but they always get back up and try again sooner or later they get the hang off it.

It sounds terrible when written down but I did the same thing with the oldest and then he did the same to the next one down and so on, it worked for us
