My daughter is 8 months old and has been on solids for about 4 months. You need to start with bland baby rice then very liquid pureed fruit such as apple and pears, babies don't know how to manipulate food in their mouths so do appear to struggle.
At first she only took about a teaspoon, but she has progressed and will eat solids such as pasta, cheese, banana and any type of bread including naan bread and Yorkshire pudding. Last night she munched her way through half an Italian breadstick!
You have to be patient and don't convince yourself that they don't like what they are being given - if they are hungry they will eat.

Thank you so much sizzler & daveyjp for your reply and your suggestion. I'm still trying other kinds of food such as potato and carrot mixture and I tried to make very smooth so he ate a good quantity of it.
