Hi. Does anyone know what constitutes as 'living together'? I am a lone parent and I have a boyfriend who stays over 2 to 3 nights a weeks. In terms of benefits when do I stand as I do not want to commit benefit fraud.
Would be grateful for advice as none of the benefit agencies have been no help at all :-(

I guess if he has his mail delivered there that would constitute living together. If he has his own place he could still spend loads of time at yours - even if he helps out with bills and food I don't think you would have anything to worry about.

I think you are fine having him stay 2-3 nights a week, I certainly wouldn't begrudge anyone receiving benefits on that basis.

Queenstomper thankyou for your reply. I have made a decision re my situation. That means that my boyfriend and I will carry on as we are (spending 2 to 3 nights together a week) until after Christmas when we will 'live together'. In the meantime if someone i.e the authorities/ my ex thinks we are living together/cohabiting then they will have to prove it.

Cheers anorahs.
