I think this is outrageous!!! I have three children aged 7, 8 and 9, which means I will have to buy 3 'boosters' and I have problems with this
1)Three boosters will not fit on the back seat of my little car.
2)my 9yr old will throw a fit if told to go in what he will see as a baby seat. and
3)How expensive are these things...£20 each-ish.
Apparently, if you can't fit three 'boosters on your back seat one child can go without!!!!! what a choice...."sorry darling you are not precious enough to need the extra safety" or " you better be nice or you will be put in the 'booster'"
Taxi's are exempt...Why.
This seems silly to me. I am all for safety, My children always wear a seatbelt. I think the nanny state is going too far.
What are your views?
It's 1.35m not 1.5m
If no room on teh back seat only two need boosters - the tallest should use a normal seat belt, preferably with an extra adjuster.
Your 9 year old is in no position to dictate to you what and what he can't do when he is in the car. You are responsible, he does what you say.
Taxis carry many different types of passenger and usually on short journeys, it's not feasible for them to cater for everyone.
Seat belts and small children don't often work. They slide up the chest and strangle your child - hence the need for them to be sat higher.
I suggest you try and find some video of what happens to children when not in the proper seat - this may change your mind.
Over time seat belt design will change to accommodate a wider range of heights, until that time I'm happy to do anything which means my daughter will have more chance of surviving a car crash.
