I am not overreacting there are massive CHILD PROTECTION ISSUES HERE SOCIAL SERVICES ARE FAILING THESE CHILDRREN. AND WE ALL ARE AS HUMAN BEINGS IF WE DONT REPORT THIS TO THE AUTHORITIES. EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO REPORT ISSUES OF CHILD NEGLECT/ABUSE AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS PROGRAMME HAS IDENTIFIED. I hope everyone who posts on this forum will complain to channel 4 and i have asked for the region in which this family live DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT AREA THIS FAMILY WAS FROM AND WHAT SOCIAL SERVICES TEAM THEY ARE UNDER????
I am very upset about this and i will pursue this issue until i get a response that will make me feel that the welfare and protection of those children will be given highest priority should that mean a complete change in the living conditions in which they are in .

I could not agree more I have never felt the need to complain about a tv programme before but this too has left me wanting answers. why has this been allowed to happen? I am so glad i'm not alone and i'm sure such progrmmes like the Wright Stuff on 5 will be addressing the issue on tonights documentry.

I am absolutely horrified by what I have just seen on this program. Since when have the rights of disabled people taken over from the rights of children to been cared for as human beings! It appears these children have no rights, I found this heartbreaking to watch, and I hope that something will be done as a result of this program to help these children. Do we really live in a country that allows this to happen, whilst we spend billions of pounds on the war in Iraq, and the Olympic games?, I hope that social services and anyone else who knew about the condition these children are living in are investigated and brought to account!

also an extremely important issue was raised by spacamac. People being alleged of racism behaviour gets national headlines WELL SO SHOULD THIS PROGRAMME!!! SEEING FIRST HAND CHILD NEGLECT IS SO DISTURBING MORE DISTURBING AND UNCOMFORTABLE TO WATCH THAN JADE GOODY. I really hope and pray that something is done URGENTLY to take those children/babies into a loving caring environment were they can be cared for and loved by people who give a toss. I am NOT SAYING that people with disabilities cannot look after children of course they can. but this programme was not about caring it was about a couple who did not give a toss about the welfare of their children there is a BIG DIFFERENCE.
sorry to rabbit on. I just feel like getting a plane going to England and taking those poor wee children to a place of comfort warmth, cleanliness and most of all love and care. SOCIAL SERVICE BETTER GET THIS DISGUSTING SITUATION SORTED ITS ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if my last message gt pt on here so i will voice my opinion again.

I am 19 and have never been so disgusted and heartbroken watching telly. I have grandparents who are both completely blind and brought up for fantastic children one of which is my mother. The show did not give a good impression of blind people which upset me the most. My grandad worked all of his life working in a factory making furniture with dangerous equipment whilst my nanna brought up 4 children and ran a spotless household, she also cooked all meals and makes the best chocolate cake i have ever had!!!! Them and there 4 children led perfectly normal healthy lives. They have also played roles in bringing up there 7 grandchildren. So if they managed to do this 40 years ago what excuse is there in modern day society??????
None!!! in my opinion social servises have been disgraced by this show. We pay taxes to pay for things like social workers how can they justify what they have failed to do??

Although my grandparents have the wounderful help of there guide dogs now they still manage with everything!!! My nanna just like every woman loves her shopping and music and my grandad what can i say just like every typical man he loves his football.

My grandparents are the best people i know and totally admire them. It hasn't been easy for them but they make the best of what they have and because of them I am here!!!

That family and people around them should be disgusted with themselves if they are registered blind why don't they try the use of guide dogs they are like a carers they help greatly!

I bloody hope this makes the news. We were making news about people being racist when they weren't so this is a hell of alot more important and should. As for the other woman she just needed a kick up the backside and told to stop feeling sorry for herself and not be so selfish to her son.

Anyone see the beginning of the programme? I know the woman with her back pain is from Torquay? Where is the blind couple from? I think we all need to raise this issue with authorities there..or at least write to our papers. I EXPECT this to make the news tomorrow....it is unacceptable...those poor kids. Remember when Lizzie and her Man on Wife Swap made the public mad for not working and claiming benefits...WELL - THAT WAS NOTHING. Here are dear, sweet and helpless kids living in squalor, unloved, uncared for, and the numbers are growing. Those 'adults' are useless excuses for human beings.

I'm another first time poster angered at this program.

The most upsetting thing I saw was that the mother was never seen to hold the baby, or indeed any of the children and only checked on the one with the cut lip when prompted by the presenter. No wonder the eldest child couldn't feel love!

I'd also like to say that at no time did I think it representative of blind parents, I think the fact they were blind was irrelevant I think the kids would have been treated the same even if they could see.

The blind couple are from bicester, oxon. I have posted bicester social services number on the next page and i'm sure they will be busy tomorrow!!

Thanks for the tip off the more of us that get involved the chances of those kids having some kind of life should be increased but knowing the council services they are bound to turn off the main lines for a voice message with is very frustrating!

What an emotive subject, I watched the docu tonight ... Well im quite numb.. Heartbreaking listening to a sibling taking about a suicide attempt ! How desperate must that child of been ? Little girl changing a nappy still with feaces on her brothers legs, Unclean baby grows, Baby crawling towards bins in back garden ..


Im trying to make exceptions in my own mind it was clever editing on channel 4,s part , However alas its not !

There must be thousand of kids in the Uk acting as unpaid carers !

One positive change for those kids at the end of docu. They now have a family worker ... Let hope those children now have the childhood they deserve !

Hopefully it will bring the plight of these kids into the media !!

I hope the docu will make changes !!

Like you all, I have never felt so angry after watching a TV programme. My heart is still pounding and I feel so sad for those poor sweet kids. I just want to take them all in and give them a nice hot bath, wash their clothes and put them in beds with sheets on. How can that couple get away with such cruelty? Those kids should be taken off and placed with a caring family. What are the teachers doing? Whoever their social worker is needs to get their act together. I hope they can sleep at night (I bet they have sheets on their bed!)

Thanks for the Prime Minister's website -he'll be getting an email from me tonight. I think we should ALL contact him or these poor little mites will continue to live the way they are. Can you imagine what kind of adults they're going to grow up to be? I've already contacted the NSPCC, I feel so strongly about it. It is cruelty/abuse after all and their 'motto' is "Cruelty to Children Must Stop". I should stop now too or I'll go on all night. I'm soooo angry!

They should be completely ashamed of themselves and they cannot cover up saying the family refused help thats bull!! they have a duty of care to them chldren they WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE!! and you wonder why victoria climbe slipped through the net because SOCIAL SERVICES are NOT DOING THEIR JOB!! just the same in this case!! i mean to actually know that the children are living in these conditions and being able to sleep in their beds at night God i dont know what is this horrible world comming to! thank you again julie

channel 4 is famous for bringing the truth about the world home which is why so many of us have emailed channel 4 and ofcom and even number 10 but at the end of the day they have highlighted the problem which is what they do. They cannot act and have those children removed which is what social services can and hopefully will do

Yes channel 4 do have a part to play in this but they are the ones who have brought this appauling show of neglect into the spotlight for all to see they have in their own way done these poor children a favour as with any luck they will get the kind of clean, loving and safe life every child deserves!

to the reluctant jester. Social services need bashing!!!!!!! its is there responsibility that is their job to ensure the safety and welfare of children in difficult circumstances. Do you not agree? I applaud channel 4 for bringing this to light, but it is the responsibility of social services. As for highlighting other cases YES and??? You not agree that that was there cock up!!! Surely we all only want the best for children but in my profession (nurse) i have a good insight into this and believe me it is their responsibiltiy.

I finally feel calm enough to sleep now that i have ranted and made my feelings known to as many officials as possible. I had beter get some sleep before by lot miss school because i can't get out of bed in the morning! In addition actions already mentioned, can as many people as possible send emails to Channel 4 news, so that these children are not be forgotten tomorrow. I want to know that Channel 4 have taken action to protect these children and contacted Social Services and the Police. If the British public can rightly complain about bullying and racism, then these children who cannot defend themselves need and deserve our support.

Im not disputing that, However channel 4 made this documentary over months rather than weeks .. Anyone of the production tean could of alerted social services .. Or is it creative editing , They would of had hours and hours of film ! They chose to show what matters to the public, Its been a highly contraversial show !
You asking wether theres a social worker in the camp .. Nah someone who works for a multi agency department ..
