i need help in deciding what to do. about a year ago i started thinking about getting in touch with my biological granddad, but i cant seem to know how to apporach my dad on the subject (as it is his dad). my nana and granddad got a divorce when my dad and uncle were in primary school, my granddad use to see them at school but then my nana told my dad to cut of contact with him, and my dad only being a boy did what his mum said, and he has never seen his dad since then. i found out this information from my mum, i also found out that my dad was thinking of contacting my granddad when my mum was pregnant with their first child, but he never did. my nana remarried when my dad was in secondary school and so i have never missed out on not having a granddad. so am i being selfish in wanting to find out if my biological granddad is still alive and if i have aunties, uncles and cousins i dont know about? i have not told anyone in my family how i feel, but i cant try and get in contact or find out about my biological granddad without my dads permission and knowing. but i dont want to tell my dad as i feel it might upset him. so does anyone have any advise on what i should do?
