i watched a program where they let the child play with chopped up food like carrot sticks etc, just to get him used to it, instead of sitting him down with it on his plate and telling him to eat it. try just chopping up different food and letting him pick it up and feel it etc, it worked for the other kid, it took a few sessions for him to eat it though

He who laughs last didn't get the joke.

Eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow they may make it illegal.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Whatever you do don't make an issue out of new foods. Put them on the plate and if he wants to try them ok if not don't make anything of it.

I have one of the most faddiest kids going so I know from experience. Never ever push a child to eat something they are not sure of.

I totally agree with Jojo

The more you make an issue out of it, the more worked up he will get.

Don't worry - he's not going to starve himself, he'll eat when he's hungry. How about just letting him have the food he does like, and slowly introducing new things one at a time? I had this with my daughter, and it drives you to distraction with worry that you're not feeding them properly. What I did with my daughter (who's now your sons age) is ignore it when she was being fussy and throwing a hissy fit, leave the room and calm down myself, and then go back in and ask her if she'd finished, and if so, could she take her plate out, and then I'd give her some fruit or a yogurt, so that I'd know she'd had at least something. Now she eats most things, but still has days where she chucks a mental, but I just ignore her. It seems to work far better than in the days where I would really get worked up, and not let her leave the table.

Do you all eat together, or does he have his meals on his own? I made the mistake of making a meal for her, and a seperate one for myself and my husband, because we were both working erratic hours and sitting down together was impossible. Since I've stopped work, I try to sit down and eat with her, and that's had an amazing effect.

Good luck to you - I know it's worrying, but give it time and you will get there.
