What sort of time commitment will be expected from the writer? I work 9-5 Monday to Friday and my employers have a limited policy on time flexibility. With this in mind would participation be practical for me?

Hi CM,
I think that the production Team could answer this better but I feel that there will be considerable flexibility when it comes to participation. Obviously your employers will have to agree but what a marvelous advert for them to be seen to encouraging their staff to rise to better things. Hey don't hold back go for the challenge and then worry about the little things when your up there as a winner.

I'm hoping that they are flexible. I'm at Uni at the moment, although thats in London anyway...I'm sure they will be flexible, otherwise they'd be limeting themselves considerably to who can participate...

Where the hell am I???

Did you see any of the C4 Faking It series? They had various 'entrants' in a reality-show environment, people just like us, and some / many of them had to commit to 12 hours a day for several weeks!

I can imagine the telephone call. "Hello, is that Sonia Friedman? Yes, hi Sonia, thanks for accepting me ... I know the programme is going to take several months to film, and I'll gain national exposure for my abilities as a writer and end up performed in the West End, but can I just ask ... can I fit it all around my shelf-stacking job at Tesco's?!"

To be safe, I think you have to assume that they're investing a hell of a lot of time and resource in you and that you're therefore rgoing to be worked quite hard!

Let's face it - the returns are (potentially) quite a bit more than merely a Blue Peter badge!

You will get one if you stack shelves at tesco AND it will have your name on it too.

But I bet your employer will be far more flexible than you think if you did get short-listed.

Just think of the free advertising they will get - plus your boss will get thier mug on the telly (C4 want access to friends and family...)

I know how my employer would lap this up!

Hey! Have you seen the size of the Navy these days... He'll take any publicity he can get (provided we don't run into any more well know 'navigational hazards').

this friends and family participation thing....what if you dont have any friends and family lol...or what if the ones you do have arent willing to participate?

family wise my mother is ill so i wouldnt want her put under any stress whatsoever and i doubt shed agree anyway...i know the t&c say we have to agree...but im presuming that theres going to be a modicum of respect involved with that? friends wise quite a few of mine are dotted around the world lol....the problem of a perpetual backpacker! anyway...im rambling...

any thoughts on this matter? lol....i can think of one of my friends whos just itching to be on tv!

I notice that they asked for your profession. I put mine but I have been let go from that job anyway and don't have another one lined up for September yet!

"Faking It" was a bit different because it was about the person themselves, so they had to be there. I think the role of the winner of this competition would be a bit different.
