I've been a guest on a number of occasions over the past few months and I can confirm that I'm neither Sonia F nor a member of the PT. I doubt any of the others were either. It was fascinating to watch you all, but I didn't see anything I had to add my pennyworth to,

That has never stopped any of the regulars. Inspector71!

I detect impatience. It took until now for C4 to let me in! I was motivated by kindness.

Hmm?
Verrry interesting! Confused
Is PT protecting us [we regulars] from others or
more likely have they read enough on here to impose a kind of quarantine?
Perhaps they took ideas such as NVAJD and NVASD seriously? Wink

What's NVASD?

Have I missed something?

There can't be TWO diseases named for me, surely!

Is the answer to the guest question the following? When i opened up the website a few minutes ago, it told me that there were 2 members and 9 guests. However, i wasn't listed as one of the members, although i expect i have been listed right now after having logged on to post this question. Perhaps you've discussed this before, but maybe most of the guests are members who are just browsing. And maybe there is nobody looking in from the outside, be that Ch4, shortlisted folk or otherwise. Perhaps this is an electronic version of Lost. Anyway now that i am on the inside looking out, I too am curious about their identity, but I suspect they are merely you.

Welcome, Inspector. It's a weird sensation of living on borrowed time in this forum. Or like being caught in an electronic Waiting for Godot. At any time, something could happen, but it doesn't.

Here's a little something for everyone's playwrighting. I've been re-reading Stuart Spencer's The Playwrights Guidebook in my continued desperate attempts to finish my play. He said this about characters:

Characters - central and secondary alike - must be allowed to write themselves. You as the writer set their boundaties, whether by conscious decision or through the discovery process of writing from the impulse. In either case, you create a general set of rules for them within the play. For example, you may determine their age, their sex, ther general traits, possibly even their emotions and actions. You know basically how they will respond to the various situations in which you may have put them. But after that, you set them free to behave as they will. If you control too much, they may very quickly become passive.

Hmm. Discuss. True?

Your ever curious girlie friend,

Swann

Hmm?
Whenever I've attempted to write, especially drama,
the characters don't write themselves.
In fact I have a distinct sense of them muttering among themselves and tapping their feet in impatience.
