I’ve managed to have all of my full-length plays read by an associate agent at PFD. The response time was excellent (under three months in every case). I’ve also had readings by Rod Hall and Curtis Brown.
So far, I’ve had good responses, but they have all be rejections. But I have now sent a script to Soho. Let’s see how that pans out.

Thanks Jay - this is the kinda thing I'm talking about!
As for 1 act plays - publishers - French's seems to be the only one about, really. Anybody know any more? Anyway, they seem happy to look at 1-act plays that have been performed - so start making friends with your local am-dram groups!

Thez me old mate - I know this phrase sounds a bit jaundiced "it's who you know NOT what you know" but I feel in the world of writing it is true. I reckon some amazing scripts never got published because the authors were not in the right place at the right time- JK Rowling admits this. (At this point the old forum would have been screaming at me / insulting me but they have left thank god) However I think you just have to be stoical - don't give up - knock on every door etc...keep on hammering away until you have no hammer left in you - good luck mate
press any key - where's the ANYKEY?

And hammer I will! Thanks, moonbird.
(The old forum would have objected to something that was so obviously common sense? Blimey, I'm glad I joined late!)
So, do you reckon this thread can go anywhere? I mean, is it worth keeping posting the odd tidbit (I'm sure that's not a proper sentence!)?
And you're right, it's all too often who you know, not what you know. Sadly...
Sometimes, I've heard it's not even what you know, or who you know, but WHAT you know ABOUT who you know! Hee hee!
