creative/interesting question - it makes me think "what qualities make a play universal" etc.... mine wouldn't stand a chance - it's set in the eastend of London!!!
Well my submission is actually set in America, with American characters, so the story at least should work on both sides of the Atlantic. I think I can get away with the dialogue and cultural references in the West End, but for an American audience I would probably need to run it past a real live American to act as a script doctor. Or risk ending up out on the ‘pavement’.

Cancer dad story - there are strong references to past British humour which is used as part of the plot, without the knowledge the yanks wouldn't get it.
Hmm... Mine's philosophical - about the advances in human technological understanding outstretching their philosophical understanding of the world... I guess that’s pretty universal. Perhaps even more to American tastes?
I had more worries that people reading it would think the synopsis sounded like a sci-fi movie pitch rather than recognise that it was more an emotional dialogue about such... I guess I'll never know if they read it as that or not - as feedback won't be given to most entrants. (Sniff)

I think I'd really like to read your play Aurora - have you uploaded it anywhere? I don't know if I'll be able to write about that stuff for a while yet - but it's still something close to my heart.
