This is like being on one of those embarrassing blind dates - a deadly awkward silence punctuated by occasional random comments, hoping that someone else is going to say something fascinating!
I mean the thread title kind of gives it away really! Depending on your interpretation.
It is what it is, yo.
I'm just happy that some of us are still bothering to pop our heads round the door, so to speak.
So, come on then, say something interesting! Get the ball rolling! Let's breathe new life into this decaying carcass of a forum! Just don't expect me to say anything witty or interedting. I need to go to beddy-byes.
I’ll answer this thread now – as it almost answers the point I made when I last left.
When this competition started, we used the forum to ease our passage (who was reading our subs; what criteria were they looking for, do they really want wannabees?).
But soon it turned in to the forum you see below you: We stared talking about our passion for theatre; we played by making Dead Men’s Feet – proving we like to have fun and relish writing at short order.
We even started (and continue to develop) an idea to promote our collective works so that the fee-paying audience may realise that there is more to theatre than Mr Llyod-Webber and his fellow Pros slagging off the concept of TPTT and promoting newbies (albeit that we do that on the FoS now – For FoS references, see other threads).
But this forum is now dead. I correct myself! This forum has been murdered – By personalities that wish to discredit writers other than themselves, by persons that aim for (but when fail to attain) acceptance of the professional community and live in the deluded world that they NEVER need to improve their works.
I am a self professed ‘Professional Wanabee’. I even blog about it. Every day, I dream about how I can get a fee paying audience to see what I have to say. And I admit, that I know that I need to grow (go on – dare to admit that your writing isn’t perfect). But more importantly (to me) I want to entertain the audience that elects to witness my imagination.
I therefore will sit back for a moment, having ranted my concerns – and shall post 3 threads over the next week that aim to encourage us all to develop as stage writers.
I am more than aware that attempts will be make to disrupt this idea (but I refuse to let this place be run by the lunatics of the asylum), yet if I don’t start the trend, who else will?
I am proud of what this forum was. I am proud of what I do each day to progress my work. I am proud that I feel that I feel right to say “sod off the people that wish to make you feel that you cannot contribute to modern theatre”.
Well, I admit I came into this arena a bit too late to grasp the full scope of the dynamics at work, and feel that I have missed out. A bit like turning up to a party just as everyone's leaving.
I'd really like it if (for as long as this venue remains) we could bring back the discussions of the whys, hows and wherefores of this idealist's game.
I don't bother even dreaming of writing the perfect play. Because, let's face it, if ever I thought I'd come up with the perfect script, I'd have great difficulty typing up, as my head would be stuck up somewhere very dark indeed!
So here's to a brand new practical thread. A whole slew of them, even. Hundreds there may already be, but how far down the list would you have to look to locate it??

Well, I've been doing my best. Would love to know what your three threads were (/are - hopefully!) going to be!
Hope you had a good Christmas, by the way. Thought I'd get that in here.
And a Happy New Year. May you never lack ideas or the time to write them in!
