Welcome to the forum for The Play's The Thing!

If you want to discuss writing or talk about the competition then please feel free to respond to any of the discussions here or start your own thread.

A lot of the people on this forum are "regulars" and we all drop in on the thread called "ONLY THIS TOPIC FROM NOW ON?" to have a general chat. Don't worry about having to read through all the previous posts, just jump right in and say "Hi!" we're a friendly bunch.

If you're a writer and interested in helping out with a new project some of the "regulars" are trying to set up, be sure to check out the topic called "TO ALL WRITERS ON THIS FORUM" for details about getting involved.

As far as we're aware, there isn't any real moderation in operation on this board, so we're largely self-policing. Please be polite and respectful of each other and each other's opinions. We're all up for a good debate, but we don't like arguments.

All in all, we aim to be a friendly, supportive bunch of people who are trying to encourage each other in their writing and offer helpful advice and criticisms.

Happy posting!

First I would like to say hello. My name is Ootsy and I would like to thank JaysPlays for inviting me to the C4 forums... This looks to be very interesting...
I am not a play write but I am a published writer here in the United States... mainly fan based and decided sometime ago to expand my work into fiction (I have been mainly non-fiction)...
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you.
Ootsy

Hi LilMiss, thanks for the invite.

I've seen an abundance of talent on this forum and have learnt loads from you guys already, from afar... Having never written a non-technical piece before, had absolutely no Am-Dram experience and read very little fiction, you may understand why I'm the shy boy amongst you guys. Loved every minute of writing though!

Not long to go 'till D-Day now and as I feel that I 'know' you all quite well, I sincerely wish everyone here the very best of luck.

Steve

Hi Ootsy,

You have joined just as things are changing on the forum - we used to have long and sometimes funny chats on here - but now it is slowing down. A few of the regular serial posters have disapeared off to a chat room on crampy.co.uk look down the page and enter a user name and off you go.

I will hang around here a while.

Hi all, As per the invitation I am saying hello, although I do not know if any one will read this as technology is not my forte. I posted a brief biography on my profile section but again I do not know if that exercise was succsessful.
I do not know about you lot but the waiting is killing me and we are not even half way to the deadline.
If any of this drivel gets through to you out there, please let me know.
Caicos.

Welcome!

A published writer! You're one step ahead of me... Mind you, I've never written a novel...

We're killing the time before 'Short-list Day' making plans on how to get our work produced... Dive into the CO-OP threads to see what I'm on about. And we have a general chat on the 'Only This Topic...' thread. Don't worry about trying to read the whole thing, just jump in on the end...

Hi Caicos

Glad to meet you. My brother worked in Saudi for over 12 years. He has pretty much the same opinion as you.

Interested in hearing more about your book. Was it your first success? Are you writing anything else?

Did you enter TPTT competition?

Come join us all on the other threads. I'm sure you'll find some interesting discussions going on.

Hello Caicos,

Sounds like an Autobiography is in order. Have £15 in Waterstones vouchers burning a hole in my pocket - so you have a sale!

Hello Caicos, welcome to the madhouse.

I'll reiterate Jay's welcome - have a snoop on Co-Op 1 first, then come talk to us if what we're doing looks interesting. In fact, come and talk to us anyway!

Playfull - can I suggest, with the £6.01 left of your vouchers, you invest in my new book '101 Easy Ways To Repair Burnt Holes In Trousers', published by Bryant & May!

From Amazon

Book Description
My Prime Ministers And I, is a Titanic satire which holes the Blair Government where it counts, below the waterline. Ironic, iconoclastic, subversive and above all, incredibly funny.

This book is nothing less than a mass cull of the Establishment and it's sacred cows which are led to the literary abatoire where they are slaughtered by the authors pen.

Way to go Caicos. Are you making a living from writing now?

Hi there playfull,
I was thrilled to hear you are going to buy a copy of PPM, which is my private name for the book, at least now I will be able to afford a mars bar for christmas, Seriously though I hope that you enjoy the book, I would be particlarly interested in your opinions as while I have had feedback, the thoughts of a fellow writer would be particularly valuable.
One thing of particlar interst to you, all the characters in the book are based on real people, they all exist, and many of the situations really happened, even the ones I made up came true, who said prophacy does not exiist!
I attempted to get into the chat room today but failed, honestly my old love I am just to bloody thick, so then best wishes to all who read this.
Caicos.
