Prompted by Admans's Interest in Inspector71's handle:-

Why did you choose your nickname for this board and what is your favourite all time nickname from school or wherever.

Gravedigger comes from the fact that I got into acting by accident and it was while playing this part in Hamlet that I really understood what the acting thing was about.

My favourite:-
Daughter (about 15 at the time) comes home from school and was chatting away about some happening and commented that "Old Stiffy got the right hump."

"Who or what is 'Stiffy'?" I enquired.

"Why Miss Woodcock of course."

Shouldn't have asked really!

I only arsked . . .

Rather bizarrely, my nickname during 3 completely unrelated phases of my life was 'Helga'. I asked a friend once why she thought it had caught on and she said 'you know when you have a really pretty little pet and you call it an ugly name because it's funny and endearing? Well that's why we call you Helga!'

Not sure I was all that satisfied with the explanation, but the ghastly name seems to have stuck...mostly because I keep answering to it!

I chose Sadie Sadie as my moniker for the forum as it's something I use a lot to describe how I am at the time of conversation. i.e. 'Sadie Sadie tired lady', 'Sadie Sadie happy lady'. God...how the hell did I start THAT little habit?! I shall cease immediately!

Boringly ... Adman1961 = Adman (which I am) plus my year of birth because when I tried to register as 'Adman' for a hotmail type account I discovered there are thousands of people who have done the same! Yahoo offered me Adman907 (or something) which seemed meaningless.

Playfull –

Starts with P same as my real name and is simply play and full, or full of plays.

Which is either deeply ironic or a straight lie as the only play I have written so far is the 15 ½ pages for TPTT.

And here was me thinking you were like a kitten with a ball of string - who had issues with spelling! Big Grin

Would you believe my moniker is Naomi - my first name and RE - the first letters of my surname - it wouldnt let me have NaomiR-E so I removed the hyphen! Aren't I imaginative! Is it any wonder I didn't get shortlisted!!

As for nicknames both previously and current have included - God - I am omnipotent you see Wink ....Dave - I promise I am ALL woman!...Sexy Legs (once and for a very short time - but I refuse to let it go!)...Beavis...ET (because apparently I looked like ET when I was born Roll Eyes )Angel - because I'm so sweet and innocent ..Fallen Angel - they then realised the truth....NaNa...Nomi..Gnome and a couple I can't repeat! Big Grin

Amazing really - seeing as I'm more likely to answer to OI you!

I chose MsMinxy; because I read & saw the play 'Dr Faustus' when I was younger - and was very struck with the sin of Lechery - AKA 'Mistress Minx'.

As I wasn't going to be a 'Miss' for ANY reason - I changed it to Ms. I added a y because it wasn't long enough for another forum I was in... and I've kept the same ID in almost every forum I've been in. Cool

Ah, now you will know the true nature of my feeble mind. In 1998 when I went on the internet I lived at 1719 Swann St in Washington. So I made Swann1719 my aol address! Awesome! No problems there with security! And there I was a single blonde trolling match.com for dates.

My favorite nickname is the one still used by my friends from high school. There is a group of us who hung out when we were 14-18. My real name is Rachel. My nickname is Raunch. You may not believe this since I am American but the nickname is in part ironic. Yes, it is possible in the colonies. Not entirely ironic - I am an iconoclast so I did and still love heartstopping vulgarity as a means of shocking people out of their comfort zone. Nothing like introducing yourself as Raunch to do that.

I tried with my usual, Seve but it was taken. Seve came from a financial forum which I wanted to join, as Steve, but I had such a naff keyboard that the 't' sometimes didn't work! Shyboy? Well, just because I'm not. Wink

It worked on me, Shyboy. And Aurora, but apparently not Minxsy. Well, as Meatloaf so poignantly warbles, "two out of three ain't bad."

Dismal Tuesday. When do our real lives start?
