(Im going to bed now to get up in four hours to drive to the airport to fly to bristol to get a taxi to Trowbridge to spend all day in meetings. And this is the earliest Ive got to bed all week. At least I can pack my overnight kit in the bags under my eyes.)
"I love deadlines - I love the woooshing noise they make as they go past." (Douglas Adams)
Thank you, thank you. Gosh, I really didn't expect to win "The Play's The Thing"
Even being shortlisted seemed like a dream come true.
Yet here I am on the stage of "The Ambassadors Theatre.
I should like to say a few thank you's.
To my family:
I would like to thank my mother... for not coming ... and embarrassing me by bringing along her latest "toy boy".
I mean, does she hang about outside the local Comprehensive School and kidnap them? I should like to thank my Dad for staying sober... well, for him this is about as sober as he's ever likely to be! I'd like to thank my brother for not stealing the award or anything else... {ASIDE} You haven't have you? Stolen anything else?
I should like to thank my sister... she knows why! Her lobbying of the male members of the selection committee is much appreciated sis... all those hours... often long into the night.
I would like to thank the producer.
Shocking!
I mean who would do that? To a poor horse.
Finally and not least... I should like to thank Don Vito Corleone... Don Vito is almost a father to me. I'm sure the strange and rapid withdrawal of all the other competitors had nothing to do with you... Godfather.
