Even though I truly hope that someone here gets shortlisted, if nothing else comes out of this competition, I think that the friendships forged on this forum has been worth all it.

Long may your collaboration continue and long live DS!

If we did Aurora, it would be kitted out with Stella and Fosters pumps, widescreen TV and a couple of PCs!

I'd frighten even myself with the plays we'd produce!

And imagine a converstaion with Adman-squared, or JaysPlays-squared... Are you willing to inflict that on the general public?

Most of us were evil when we went IN to the force - in fact, I seem to recall it was stated as an eligibility prerequisite on the application forms!

Has anyone thought about a get-together? Are we spread out all over the island?

I will be visiting Bath on Sept 30 / Oct 1 and would be pleased to buy a drink for anyone in the area. I've never been to Bath before.

Or in the alternative, I live in London and could host a little party. I say without the slightest reservation that I make the best margarita in the world.

I hate to say it - but isn't London the natural venue? It's fairly central (albeit I know a bit remote for a couple in the north and in Ireland)

Meet one Saturday afternoon, have a few drinks, a meal, and a show? It is, after all, what we're supposed to do!

I volunteer to help organise. Send an e-mail to rachel@easywombat.com if you would like to be part of it. The idea is to look at Saturdays in November and early December for a forum meet-up - drinks, dinner and a play in London. Perhaps the northerners can make it a Christmas shopping trip.

Hmm... with my Mediterranean complexion - I'm not going anywhere near the centre of London carrying bags of any kind ever again...

I like the sound of the margarita, senorita! Cool

Wait; you mentioned a husband? Frown
Hmm?
And I'll bet you live South of the River (Thames) ?

Oh, I do love a mojito Minxy, but I haven't mastered them. . . . perhaps we should study the matter more closely.

Sorry, I have a big ex-rugby playing husband and I live north of the river.

What does the north/south of the river connote for you anyway?

Swann, please excuse the off-beat Brit-type humour.
Smile
The North/South of the River thing is a London preoccupation, dating back to the days of yore when
the tanners, glue and soapmakers and the nuisances of London (brothels and playhouses included) were exiled South of the River Thames.

I live North of the River having found the ideal quiet space (yet 10 mins from the tube and decent restaurants).

The husband question?

I'm currently rattling around an underfurnished pile - and am looking for a (resident) interior decorator -preferably female. Roll Eyes

What's your type, Lewes, what's your deal? Have you tried match.com ? I have to tell you, I had a very fun time with that in '99.

I feel for you - there doesn't seem to be too many unattached playwrights floating around this forum.

match.com?

The trouble is, I probably wouldn't turn up at the meet. I have a history of accepting invitations and not showing! Frown

Ideal type?
Intelligence, a sense of humour, warm and caring...physical type? I guess I'm turned on by all the biological signals designed to do just that.

There is the issue of my complicated psychological and medical history - which is a turn off. Not sure if and when one would introduce all this cr*p to a potential partner! Confused

You need a nurse, a politician or a news crew girl Lewes!

Lots of them in Hackney, I've heard ...

I have to say... That if it is Aspergers Lewes, it's not the kind of thing that will put off all women... as there are many who themselves have those sort of tendencies and those who don’t who can still appreciate its manifestations more as eccentricities...

Having worked as an Actuary – I’ve learned that to get people that good at maths, you can't be too choosy about personality type and in the office I was surrounded by the worlds ‘eccentrics’… I sat next to a guy who very definitely had Tourettes syndrome - undiagnosed - but no-one shouts 'Duck, duck-goose', 'ooh the bum crack', 'the *******s' (and many more) and 'neighs' to themselves normally in the course of a day. We had a laugh about it... but it certainly didn't effect his pulling power - as he was dating one of the most attractive women in the office...

I sat next to another guy obsessed with gangster movies to a SERIOUS degree… He had quotes, which he’d play on media player throughout the day… There was another guy – Phd in quantum physics - who couldn’t look anyone in the eye before he’d known them at least a year – But great guy! Gorgeous – I fancied him sooo much… (anyway, off topic)…

Another guy had an aversion to moisture… and there was me of course… who everyone fondly assumed had Aspergers anyway (however rare it is for girls) - So what that I like the orienteering points on the map to be fine like cross hairs… so what if the cross hairs have to point exactly North-south and east-west… I mean… No biggie!

Sometimes I wonder if ‘diagnosing’ things takes away the fun of peoples individual quirks… I read Raj Pseuda’s book last year (excuse spelling) ‘Tales from the edge of the couch’, where he postulated that everyone had these ‘disorders’ that he outlined… just some to a greater degree than others…

I therefore think I would be more put off being told such things on a first date – or sit through a nervous date that was obviously waiting to tell me something; than have a date with someone who went along with the flow and brought it up if the conversation strayed that way…

Anyway - point being - Date an Actuary - they'll be totally used to it! And I know you have quite a few working in the DWP!

I actually feel inadequate and a little excluded because I have no (diagnosed) physical or mental health issues!
I do however feel this reflects very positively on both the nature of this forum and its contributors that people feel comfortable in so openly sharing their experiences.

P.S. I do however suffer a little from what doctors call Cyber-chondria.

To make a serious point, I'm more able to talk openly here, on this forum, than in most other venues.

As Adman says, this is the friendliest pub in town - 24 hour licence, 7 days a week.
I feel like I've known you guys for years.

Now you can vomit!

I have a vision of us all meeting one day in a pub (naturally) each sitting at separate tables typing away on wireless laptops and giggling quietly to ourselves.

But then I have been officially diagnosed as having Sad Geek Syndrome - so take no notice of me.

This concept of 'the meeting' keeps coming up.

We really will have to start thinking about a when/where!

Does anyone else keep getting a dunking biscuit game popping up on the main screen of the forum? And did anyone else waste ten minutes of their lives playing it!

Im beginning to worry about my mental health now.
