Not fair, not fair, not fair!
I mean, going to London and picketing the very theatres we're trying to get into!
Only jokink Playful! If I was up there, I would have got some serious drinking networking in to...

Yes, but if you assume any putative letter would take at least 2 days to reach you (the day it was posted and the day it arrived, even if SpecialD) that would mean ...

Chin up old bean, this dream might be nearly over but they're like busses - another one will be along shortly. Anyway, come the 30th Sept imagine the fun we can all have slagging off those who do get through, saying the competition was fixed, that we wouldnt have wanted to have been chosen, etc. etc. (Then imagine the embarasment when they phone two days later and say "didnt you get our message....")

The dream can never be over, no matter what your dream, because if you don't have a dream, how'r you going to make a dream come true?
Sometimes, to quote Stephen Fry, you feel there just isn't enough vomit in the world ...

South Pacific? Methinks Adman spends too much time spent watching old musicals in the small hours.

Yep. I've attended book and collector's fairs there. Attending the theatre in London, recently, I find myself dreaming too. And now,the dream is nearly over.

Yep... If there's one small thing I've learned from trying to crack the writing gig thus far - is that there's ALWAYS the next thing to pin your fragile hopes upon...

Hmm... Any one know of a playwrights' competition that someone in the South of England can enter - been searching and can't find a thing!

They have competitions. Although I think it's mainly for creative writers, rather than plays. It's worth taking a look though.

You want to go through this, again? What kind of a person would want to do this, again? One would have to be an egotistical, optimistic obsessive with an unquenchable thirst for success, recognition and fame; some one undeterred by obstacles, or rebuffs; some one who would not flinch in the face of (unfair) criticism but who would go on regardless, and on and on. If this describes you, oh well then, the best of luck. You're going to need it.

Count me in!
Lewes - if it's already written, why not?
Bring on the play comps, that's what I say!
But I'd be loyal to this chat Forum - until Dramatic Success has it's own then whey-yay-ay!

Oh well, who knows, it only takes two days for a letter to arrive, that's long enough! By the way, what's your favourite West End show? Did anyone see Cats?
|
| |
|

|
Uh-hoh, anyone seen tommycm?
Welcome back Thana.
No, didn't see CATS, maybe would have liked to do so - but Lion King was astounding! Did you get to that?
I LOVE the Lyceum anyway! And the pub on the corner next door serves great food ...

The Lyceum?
Before it was redeveloped and opened once again as a theatre, a young teenager, fresh from the provinces, arrived in the land of his father to seek his fortune.
This youth entered university and to make extra cash got a job as ASM to the Olde Style Music Hall (twice weekly) they ran at the Lyceum.
It is good to see the old place looking so magnificent. It was Irving's favourite theatre. He had Bram "Dracula" Stoker as his manager. I often wonder on whom Bram based his creation?

Some one must have heard by now, surely? If you have and have been instructed - shtum and keep posting - I'll forgive you! Provided you treat all us losers to a slap up meal...at the "Ivy". Did you pass that on your recent visit to London, playfull, mate? It's where the "luvies" eat! Ok luvie, forgiveness at a price! Unless of course, it's me who's heard - in which case dinners on me!

Or Gravy ("moving house") or LML ("getting back to Uni") or Diddod, or Subs, or ...

'If you have not been contacted by 30th September 2005, this will indicate that you have unfortunately not made it on to the shortlist and into the subsequent phases of The Play's The Thing'. By not before! Clutching at straws... but I reckon tomorrow, Friday 30th September 2005 is THE DAY Good luck EVERYONE.
