I will support Ghana too, like a lot of people i think. It's wonderful for Africa, but without Essien it will be hard.
Juninho played yesterday and he has scored !!!! A wonderful goal, as always. So 2 lyonnais have scored in this World cup, Fred and him.
It's dramatic tonight i will miss France/Togo. Ghost

Juninho was good, yes. That was a great performance all round for Brazil, I think. There wasn't a weak link in the entire team. Japan impressed me despite losing 4-1. I thought they were good, and their goalkeeper was excellent. Ninja
I really, really hope France play well tonight and actually control the game, as it's about time they shook off this bad run of form.
I will also be supporting Ghana, it would be great if they could beat the mighty Brazil! Big Grin

I can't believe this, it's our first victory since the 98's final, and i've missed it Ghost.
It was Vieira birthday yesterday too, and he was exellent ! I'm so happy, ok it was against Togo, and Spain will destroy us. But they give us hope.

Sooooooo......
About 50 minutes to go before England vs Ecuador...
I predict a England 3-2 Ecuador. I reckon England will start off strong, get an early goal and look a lot better, but then they will get complacent, Ecuador will get better and pull one back. After that, I reckon it will turn into a typical England match Frown and we will undeservingly win at the end.

Brazil 3-0 Ghana Frown.
That was a shame, as the result didn't reflect on the game at all. Ghana deserved more out of this match.

Will anyone be watching the France vs Spain match?

I disagree I think Brazil could easily have had six the Ghana defence was very poor

I agree with you in the sense that the Ghana defense was poor, but I also feel that Ghana could have very easily scored a few themselves. I suppose they didn't take their chances, in the end of the day...

France vs Spain was a bizarre match! Still, I'm glad France have gone through (although their reign ends here, I reckon. France vs Brazil? I can't see France winning, but if anyone is to beat Brazil, then who better to do it than France?
Allez Les Bleus! Cool

i agree,Brazil could have had more but at least Ghana tried to make a game of it;that goal right before haslf time was a killer.Ghana have been a long time due at a world cup and theyve made a good impression.I think weve seen signs in this tournament that the time is coming for African teams although it will be a few tournaments yet.In the long run though the combination of raw talent(only extreme poverty seems to produce such a conveyor belt of talent),international players playing in the top leagues and decent coaching will bear fruit.
I do hope FIFA do something about the naturalisation of players by the richer nations though.

I think that issue is part of a larger debate on immigration and labour laws, so I doubt FIFA have any real power in dealing with naturalisation. The wierdest instance was the Tunisia V Spain game when both sides had a Brazillian-born in their squad Ninja

Japan have a Brazilian-born player, too - Alex, incase you don't know.

Germany vs Argentina is going to be mighty close... it could come down to a dive, a mistake, an extra-time goal or of course, penalties! I predict a Germany 2-2 Argentina with Argentina winning on penalties. Both teams are playing extraordinary football, but Argentina are a little better; on paper and on recent performances, so I reckon they will hold their nerve more and look slightly better in normal time as well.

I really hope Argentina (the better team win), but I have feeling the Germans will edge it.

I can't believe it, France beat Brazil!! Big Grin They were absolutely solid throughout the match. It's a shame Juninho went out on such a weak note, though.
It's also a shame that England lost to an inferior Portugal side Frown Quarter-finals are particularly harsh as no big team wants to lose them, because in the end of the day, no one really remembers the teams who lose in the quarter-finals (unless they're a surprise team like Ukraine or Senegal) yet inevitably big teams will lose at this stage.

It's wonderful, i'm still shocking by this result. After the match i was completely lost. Hey Les bleus have beaten Spain, and now Brasil !!!
I'm so happy for this team, so happy for Ribéry....and Zizou of course !! He was graceful yesterday, one of his best match. He has shown to the world cup that he is still alive. Pfiou it's so good, we will have the opportunity to see him for 2 mores matches, whatever happened from now. And the press said that the french team was an old tired team !!

On Henry's goal the brazilian defence has been very strange, Roberto carlos did'nt move !
Now we will play against Portugal, i'm pessimistic for this match, Deco will be back..

But i'm with them, in the victory like in the defeat.
Allez Les bleus on vous aime !

Don't be pessimistic if les bleus play like they did against Brasil they will have too much for Portugal even with Deco.

Welcome back, footballjunkie.
I'm hoping for a France vs Italy final, personally. That would be great.
My prediction: -
Germany 1-2 Italy
Portugal 0-1 France

Changing the subject; I felt sorry for Juninho when he went out on such a dissappointing note. He himself wasn't all that bad, I felt, but the rest of the team had an annoying habit of only passing to Kaka and Ronaldinho, Mad which they found out didn't work. That sort of play very rarely works! I'm pleased that France went through, but dissappointed for Juninho. In the Shropshire Star it states that Juninho has retired from international football. Juninho states, "It is over for me, and it has finished in a very bad way." He goes on to say, "There is total sadness. It is not the time to appoint blame. We all lost."

Oh La LA! Italia v France dans la finale! Eek

What a dream final in many ways, though I just don't understand how France have got there with such a rubbish manager!

Unfortunately, most of my friends couldn't afford to go to Eurockéennes so I didn't make it which I was distraught about Frown especially considering that Muse's new album is stunning (It is a must-have album, simply staggering, they're the best thing in the World!). However, instead, I went to see Red Hot Chili Peppers at Pride Park (my team, Derby County's football stadium Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin ) and they were surprisingly (for me) brilliant. 27,000 of us were delighted by them, and the support act, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals (Goldfrapp were supposed to be playing but they pulled out at the last minute for some unknown reason) Big Grin

The best thing in the world?! Eek That's a pretty big claim to make! Big Grin Nah, I don't mean anything by it - they're good.
I don't know if anyone is going to be interested in what I'm about to say, but I'm a fan of The Who. I just love their energetic meld of rock and rhythm and blues! Cool
