So, as far as les Bleus international football team go, they're not looking overly impressive now, with a couple of friendly draws against lowly opposition (Bosnia & someone else), and are 2nd behind Rep Ireland in the WC qualifiers, with ageing stars, fading. It looks as if their glory days are over, as quick as Michelle McManus' solo career, doesn't it? I might be being naive, but I don't see much potential in the squad.

I think it could be a rumour, one of blue supports Inter and is a big fan of Vieri.

France have a lot of rebuilding to imo. And they aren't going to do it unless Domenech (?) makes some strong choices. The main one imo choosing between Trezeguet and Henry, because it's quite clear that they can't play together. Also Pires imo should be excluded, simply for the reason of blooding in the younger players so that they'll be ready for the WC. The reason being that it's unlikely that Pires will be the same player in a year and a half.

But it's not all doom and gloom. There are some brilliant young players around. Rio Mavuba of Bordeaux the most obvious who seems to have replaced the role of Makelele with ease.

Then there's Hatem Ben Arfa who I think can be huge. An attacking midfielder who plays for Lyon. I think he's only about 18-19, but he is being really hyped up as the next big think in France.

And wotshisname Nasri of Marseille. He's looking mighty promising at only 17. Seriously though, it's got to be Henry over Trezeguet, but who plays along side him? Saha? Anelka (no way)? Luyindula? Wiltord? Cisse (when he's back) ? There's loads of options. It's very difficult, but personally I'd go with Cisse, but I'm not sure how him and Henry could form a partnership.

I can't stand Minogue either. She seems to have resurrected her career (for the umpteenth time) firmly on the basis of p*ss-poor pap tunes and sticking her arse in everyone's face at any given opportunity.

As for up-and-comers in Ligue 1, the lad Jouad Zairi of Souchax is a bit of a talent, but I think he's actually Moroccan with French nationality. Although I don't know if he's represented Morocco yet. And if he hasn't, he shouldn't. Or something.
