Oh my God I can't believe it. I just tuned into More4 and I too discovered that the dreaded DOG has gone. Has someone finally seen sense and realised that DOG's are actualy causing some viewers like myself to ignore the channel completely ? It it's gone for ever I may actually start watching this channel. Now if only someone at E4, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, BBC3, BBC4 and every other digital could do the same the world would be a better place !
I would think C4/MORE4 have merely been reconfiguring their playout systems and this is temporary?
Andy Duncan is certainly a very interesting man if he has finally realised that "culture loving adult Channel 4 viewers" don't want to be treated as babies, chavs (no disrespect), and embeciles.
David Pullan, director of FIVE came to that conclusion in 2002 when he removed C5's DOG, and for what it's worth, his channel bucked the trend by gaining viewers for the years he was in command.
As of right now, MORE4's DOG is still gone (horray).
Digital channels have lost their DOG-mess before for a few days, only for the "technical fault" to be restored a few days later.
No TV channel that has distinct quality programmes and worthy talent needs "iconography" and unproven voodoo-marketing bull.
Can Channel 4 please state whether this is a policy change?
Personally it doesn't bother me, but I don't see the point of it really. If you don't know which TV channel you are watching there's probably something wrong with you.
Especially considering pushing the "i" button will tell you which channel you are on anyways.
I will say however, that the DOG is placed for 4:3 viewers, meaning those of us watching in 16:9 get the DOG about four inches in from the left hand corner.
Perhaps it would be better if the DOG popped up for the first 30 seconds of a TV show, then disappeared from sight.
(it could be worse - we could get animated ones like they have in the US)

It does already. It's called the MORE4 presentation before the programmes and after the adverts, and it looks far more tidy and professional than smudging the screen and people's heads.
Is Channel 4 yanking one's chain? Is this temporary or for ever?
Tentatively, MORE4 is now a new posh channel without DOG, which makes both MORE4 and Peter Dale my new best friends.
No one seems to be complaining that this "interference" is gone. Meanwhile, I'm a new viewer becoming a regular viewer complementing my C4 viewing. For now.
Like everyone else here, I'm glad to see the ugly DOG gone.
Most annoying - especially because More4 is one of the better and more distinctive channels - is that they even thought a DOG was necessary in the first place.
Add my name to the list of viewers ignoring More4 again now that the stupid DOG is back. Will the people in charge never learn. We are the viewers, the choice is ours and we choose not to have our enjoyment ruined by your totally unnecessary logo. Why do people persist with something they they know causes people to ignore their channel ?
I have sent a few polite emails to MORE4 and Peter Date.
Guess what: In 9 months of MORE4's existence, Channel 4 and MORE4's controller has not responsed what so ever.
This means that Channel4 / MORE4 do not have intellectual conviction or ability to account for their policy, argue its case, present anything as evidence, or even state what they think.
With MORE4 - the controversial adult channel for thinking viewers - the response to all questions about their MORE4 DOG is...
N O T H I N G !
How conventional.
It is also fascinating to hear that the new free Film4 service will not be disfigured according to the C4 Film4 FAQ.
Does Channel 4 honestly believe that 4MORON viewers are too bloody stupid to remember what channel they selected? Apparently so, and 4MORON smudge continues except for advertisors and 4MORON's own adverts since they get a say and customers don't.
Well, I WILL NOT WATCH substandard damaged TV channels.
And because lots of other people will not substandard damaged TV channels, 4MORON's shows like the worthy West Wing, NYPD Blue, and many other programmes, also get dumped in a cultural getto with a small concert hall amount of viewers.
So C4 classically don't show the final series. The voiceover said October, so let's hold them to that. As usual the professional presentation of the last episode was amazing, with the "Without A Trace" bumper at End of Parts and Start of Parts, eventually someone noticed and put the proper graphic bumper on the final part.
And what was with the penultimate episode where there was a commercial break then we see Sipowicz apologising to the guy who got wrongly convicted and then straight to end credits - i mean who puts a commercial break a minute before the end of programme? It' s like some mad USA-style programming.
