If you eat more than you need you gain weight. if you eat a small amount, and still gain weight then you are still eating too much for your body.
*YOU*, and only *YOU* have control over what goes into your mouth, and hence the amount of fat your carry around on your frame.
It's *YOUR* responsibility to ensure that *YOU* eat less than you need if you want to lose weight, or more than you need if you want to gain weight.
It's extremely simple physiology, and I'm struggling to understand why you can't grasp this simple concept.
agreeing with you here!! **waves manically** Seriously, how can people not understand what he's saying?? It's all about understanding the difference between your bodys need for food and your bodys desire for food.
If you're "waving manically", maybe you're going to need some lithium medication. Better watch out for weight gain!

Of course, Malkie will tell you that underactive thyroid like depression and some other illness wasn't about 100's of years ago, and is simply in folks' imagination, no doubt. That seems to be his normal way of reckoning...

Having hypothroidism doesn't cause obesity. Eating more food than your body needs while having hypothroidism causes obesity. The single cause of obesity is eating too much food, or eating too much of the wrong sorts of food. Hence obesity is self inflicted in 100% of cases and hence I shouldn't have to support the healthcase and benefits of these lazy and unwilling people. I work hard for a couple of hours and make £100. The tax man then takes £40 of this and puts it into the pocket of an unemployed crack-addict to help support his addicition. Explain to me why this is fair? Alternatively I work hard for another couple of hours and make another £100. The tax man then takes £40 of this and puts it into the pocket of an unemployed grossly obese person who is too fat to work. They then spend the money on big macs (oh, and a *diet* coke). Explain to me why this is fair? (from the money I make, the lazy and unwilling are practially getting as much of it as I am)

not necessarily an unemployed "grossly obese" person,Malkie. There are skinny folks who are too frail to work too, you know... Be careful, your discrimination's showing..

How could they!!! That stuff is gross (but I've seen really skinny people eating and drinking them too, when I pass by).

Big whole in this argument, Malkie, you'd have to know that you had an underactive thyroid first... Cushing's disease causes weight gain and so do several other diseases and imbalances...

Malkie, where have you gone? I hope you've not dropped dead in the middle of a sentence. I knew a skinny chap did that once. He was talking to a big fat guy at the time. Lucky, it wasn't the other way round, he might have got squashed to death instead. T-I-M-B-E-R! (I can make this kind of joke against myself you see, like skinny people making skinny jokes!)

The disease don't cause weight gain. They alter metabolism meaning you have to be especially careful about your diet. However, bottom line is that the fat gain comes from what goes into your mouth. If you disagree, then please tell us where the extra fat comes from.

Oh, and how could I forget Prader-Willi Syndrome... that one would be your worst nightmare, Malkie... Have you ever dealt with a child with Prader-Willi Syndrome? Chromasomal disorder...

Now, Malkie, having dug the garden in between answering your rather puerile comments, and worked up quite an appetite, I am off for some sausage, blackpudding, bacon, egg, and chips (of course) (Oh, and a megasized fizzy drink). I imagine you imagine that is the kind of thing I eat. Somehow avocado salad with couscous, and some green tea, which I am actually having, sounds quite healthy, doesn't it, and not something you can chide me about. No doubt you will want to remind me about the fat in the avocado, but then I do like to ensure an adequate supply of vitamins and minerals in a natural form, and think the risk to my health is probably worth it.

Oh, dear, Malkie... I couldn't resist it. I had a sprinkling of pine nuts on the top. Do you KNOW how much fat is in pinenuts (they're virtually all fat ) If you don't hear from me again, assume that this intake of extra fat has caused my swollen, obese body to explode, and my computer screen develop the look of a rather lumpy, vertical pizza. Talking about pizzas, when I was in States, I was reading the National Enquirer, as you do, when you're in the supermarket queue. There was an article in it about this fat woman, who went into a restaurant and ate 8 pizzas. Can you imagine it - 8 pizzas? It was an interview with a gentleman who was in the restaurant when she did this. He apparently had been quite traumatised. He said "There was this kind of slow, heavy rumble, and then she just kind of exploded..." Apparently, they had real trouble scraping her off the walls... If I explode, I don't imagine I will make such a mess, and I will be in a confined area. However, it'll be a bit of a shock for my husband when he comes home...

but you haven't answered the question. You've dodged this rather simple question countless times now. I'm neither lost for words, or frustrated - however I do find it amusing that you are unwilling to give me a straight answer. So, I'm forced to answer the question for you. People with slow metabolism, or hypothyroidism, or Prader-Willi Syndrome all gain extra fat by not appropriately controlling their diet. They put food into their mouths, and the fat builds up. Why are you unable to accept that? Why do you constantly blame everything else other than the individuals lack of ability to control their diet ?

... having a chromosomal disorder, Malkie.
I missed this little gem while replying. Largely because you continually post fluff, making it hard to see where you've actually made a contribution. Having a chromosomal disorder does not cause a build up of fat. Eating inappropriately while having a chromosomal disorder causes build up of fat. If someone with Prader-Willi Syndrome ate nothing for 3 days would they continue to gain weight? Or would they lose some ? I think you'll find they lost some weight, proving that the genetic disorder doesn't actually itself cause the weight gain. Why do you constantly try to find excuses, rather than accept the simple truth that is that the only source of fat on a persons body is from what goes into their mouths.

illnesses and disease are not excuses, Malkie, they are reasons. there is a difference.
Gosh, I thought even you might have some sympthy for a small child that suffers from a chromasomal disorder in which his or her body sends out signals which makes the child believe that they are suffering from severe starvation. However, I guess you're even more unfeeling than I thought, unless, of course, it has something to do with money, for which you seem to have an immense attachment.
