Can't stand the fella and his ghastly diatribe, so won't be watching whilst he is presenting. Hopefully More 4 will see sense and do the right thing.

Oh Dear. It seems to me that some viewers are entirely missing the point. I watched the show last night and thought it was wonderful. Rarely do we get the opportunity to see such genuine debate and honest political discussion. The point Professor Starkey was making had little to do with a dislike of the Scots and more to do with the fact that since Scottish devolution, notions of Britishness have become much more fractured and sectarian in nature. If you consider the long history between Scotland and England it is obvious that this is nothing new. We need to stop our own concepts of patriotism and nationalism from hampering our attempts to engage in meaningful debate. Perhaps Shelliphant should try harder to understand that having a differing opinion from someone else is at the heart of political debate, and is not, as they seem to perceive it, a personal attack.
I applaud More4 for having the good sense to offer the public a refreshing and stimulating political discussion show.

Could not agree more! Starkey at least aguues on the basis if factually informed opionion and of course he does not have any power- he is just an acedemic. Sadly what the programme what the programme does is to show just how ill informed the decision makers are. Watching them squirm when presented with the facts really is one of the pleasures in life when us poor inderviduals have virtually no oppotunity to put them on the spot where they can deny there comment at a later stage.

Never liked the man. He seems to be an English snob almost like a stereotype but is actually real. Plus he gives gay men a bad name.
