Having been enjoying the re-runs of ER on C4 i was looking forward to seeing the first appearances of Gates in season 12....only for the More 4 channel to miss them out completely.
I know in the past C4 has cut out episodes that are not suitable to be show at a weekday afternoon, 'The Storm' episode springs to mind, with Part 1 being on in the afternoon, and Part 2 being at night. They do sometimes 'jump' out of sequence and skip episodes seemingly for no reason. It's probably because they want to run the entire series and only have a certain length of time to do it in and as they are repeats it doesn't matter if they miss one or two eps. But they have done it before and I'm sure they will do it again. Might be worth posting on ER thread, they tend to know more about this sort of stuff than I do. Hope that helped.

One thing i have noticed, as you said, is that C4 will edit episodes to cut out unsuitable scenes if showing a repeat during the day, but on More4 i noticed that in one episode some quite fruity lines were kept in. So because More4 can come under the "parental control" thing on freeview boxes does the same rule apply or not.
