I recall ch4 saying that this new channel MORE4 will show considerible gay content. I guess theve changed thier mind then? Since their are no gay shows on this channel at all.
Damm ch4, they are supposed to be a public service, yet the act like a ratings driven crazy private network and off cource we gays suffer as a result!

I have to echo A-D's sentiments. I'm not entirely sure that there is such a thing as "gay programming". I honestly don't think that any of the shows you describe were aimed exclusively at the gay community, and most likely had a pretty broad viewership.
To programme exclusively for gays would surely further stigmatise the community rather than integrate which is ultimately a bad thing.
Your post almost suggests that the gay community doesn't enjoy "straight tv programming", and needs to have it's own TV shows on it's own TV channel. ("Only gay in the village" anyone?).
Personally I think a better step forward would be to have gay couples on TV game shows, or potentially a TV show were the main hero character is coincidentally gay. (Like a police detective show)
I also never realised that production companies had to set out to make gay programmes for it to be called gay TV.
I remember someone saying gay men particularly enjoy orginal Dr Who, Star Trek, X-Files and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. They might of been trying to be humourous though.
Alan Partridge was always having homo-erotic daydreams in one of his series - Was that meant for gay or straight TV?

Totally dissagree
Their is a need for "gay programming" that reflects many aspects of gay life that tv shows ignore!
Dont even get me started on that gay stereotype in corrie!
20 years ago ch4 had a clear policy of making 40 hours a year of gay programming. These were mostly documentarys and foriegn "gay" films.
However, these days they do not show any gay movies, documentarys or dramas!
If they continue to ignore gay viewers then it might as well be privatised and become another sky onc.

Try searching on ******* for "dantes cove" and or "noahs arc" and you will see gay drama aimed firmly at gay viewers!

"dantes cove" looks really good.
Will you allow me to watch it? I'm not actually in your club, probably why I just don't get it, lol.
I think that C4 must cater for it's biggest audience. It's all about money I think! If they started putting gay TV on, many people would turn over and then C4 ratings would drop.
If I were you, i'd get Sky TV, loads of gay stuff on there. It's not my cup of tea though, i'm one of those that turn over. But what ever rocks your boat I guess.

Must say wouldnt be that hard to provide some specialised content to the gay community, not only to make them happier (afterall I dont believe gay people get reductions or dont have to pay the tele license) but also to stop the Mary Whitehouse brigade having anything to say. ie dont like it, dont biew the gay channel. This shouldve been done ages ago for many adult subjects, it would stop us having to wade through hours of cack to find it.....
We also seem to have many spare channels now to have a go at such open programming. I would personally prefer more gay programs than endless repeats of the same dull cack that they tend to use.
Put it to the test of capitlism, and give them their own channel, if its watched, you make money and please a whole new sector. Be proud.

Must say wouldnt be that hard to provide some specialised content to the Christian community, not only to make them happier (afterall I dont believe Christian people get reductions or dont have to pay the tele license) but also to stop the Gay/PC brigade having anything to say. ie dont like it, dont biew the Christian channel. I think the Church/Religion has had a fair crack of the whip in fairness.
The pink pound is an ever growing area, the Church on the other hand has had terrible trouble recently getting the numbers in.
Personally I dont have a problem with Christian programming either, althoguh I do wish they would make them less boring and homophobic. Again as far as I know, God and the bible do not encourage hatred to anyone, regardless of their 'nature'. May as well get some channels for the older generation too, with some good old fashioned racism. Why not, it caters for someone.........
And yes, ultimately I would prefer you to have whole channels of Religious cack than it ever getting near the mainstream. I too survived highway on Sundays. I might not wish to be saved, but Im happy for others to find their paths, are you??
