Is it fair to say that CH4 just weakly gave in to their previous carriage contract with sky.

This seems odd. The promise was a free quality channel on all digital platforms. Could it be that when dealing with the Murdoch empire that a major broadcaster such as Ch4 has no muscle or leverage at all?

I thought Ch4 had news reporters and programme makers with clout and bite. Are not their lawyers and producers made of the same stern stuff and have demands of their own.

Hmm.

Or are we being treated with contempt.

I think so.

What is realy poor is the lack of an official explanation on this forum or the More4 site.

The BBC seem to have dragged a response out of 4 but it really is poor that a publicly owned corporation can act in this way.

I see the papers, esp the Murdoch ones, full of attacks on the BBC this morning for daring to ask the Government to let them collect the money they need to handle switchover.

Not a single paper seems to carry the story of the other publicly owned broadcaster which ignores viewers' emails and encrypts its channels.

*Anybody* can get carraige on Astra 2A, 2B, or 2D from SES which is indepdent of Sky / Newscorp.

*Anybody* can get access to the EPG for £75,000 per channel per year.

*Anybody* can contract Sky's CAM services.

The fact is Channel 4 Corporation has dropped the ball here or otherwise is secretly doing a BBC and favouring only the "FREEVIEW" Digital Terrestrial services as Dyke (the C4 CEO's previous boss) did.

Andy Duncan was the President of the Freeview Consortitum whilst he was the Marketing stooge at the BBC. There is something he's staying quiet about?

I wonder if the C4 Forum net-nazis will remove this post?

Surely Public service broadcasting is at odds with the concept of subscription too...?
