For many who are for vivisection because the rights of other species should not disrupt or prevent the advancement of medicine for the benefit of mankind...
I presume that you would have no problem with the idea of creating a new species, which has the physicallity of a human but the mind of an animal? (maybe engineered to not feel pain)
This would mean that all the problems of differing species being affected by drugs differently etc. would be no more.
Also from an AR POV only 1 species would need to be vivisected on, meaning a lot fewer animals would suffer.
If vivisection is here to stay this is surely the best answer?
P.S The above does not reflect my true feeling on vivisection, this is just an idea i thought should be exercised.
Ignoring the biological impossibility of what you are suggesting - if you create a new humanoid species it would be more likely to be protected by human rights laws than animals.
I don't see it as a solution.
However, taking biology into consideration, I think the creation of human organs it probably the future, where you can study drug effects in an organ you've grown in a test-tube.
At the moment we can create simple organs - eg growing muscle cells on a balloon to create a bladder. However, we're always going to be limited to individual organs, and not an intact physiology.
We're also going to be limited to our knowledge of biology, and we simply don't understand enough about integrated physiology to be able to generate a living body.
Malkie knows all to do with science, he is our resident Doctor, so Im pretty sure its totally impossible. LOL tell us what the future holds oh great one. Whatever.
Why would they get rights?? They are artificial, and dont deserve the rights we think the rest of us do.
At the end of the day it wont change anything either way, becuase most humans are so arrogant as to use whatever resource at their disposal to gain an advantage for them, their family or their species.
Of course using humans would be ideal but too risky, so we sacrifice animals for our cause. Lets not dress it up as something its not, which is moral or good science.
Maybe they should pay the vivesectors less, and inspire them some more.
