In 'Travels With My Camera' (Wed 2 May), Jon Ronson travels to North Pole, Alaska, to investigate a foiled school massacre. It was a shocking incident in otherwise peaceful Santaland.

The documentary was filmed before the recent Virginia Tech massacre and is a tragic reminder of what can happen when pretty much anyone has the right to own a gun.

What's the solution to cutting gun crime, both here and in the States, bearing in mind most people in Alaska carry guns - there are a lot of bears and wild animals about.

John Ronson's documentary was very good. I think he focused on the key issue of high school shootings which is the segregation of pupils who don't fit the hegenomy of the institution for whatever reason. I find it difficult to understand why people hold their hands up and say 'why why?!' Deep down I think we are all aware of the impact of bullying and the violent revenge fantasies that it can invoke. However, it is the step into acting out ones fantasies that is the psychotic step, the one that most of us never take.
Obviously in the US's case access to weapons is the key issue. But people need to focus also on the way certain groups can be marginalised in the microcosm of teenage school situation.
