I recently watched a show in the Edinburgh Playhouse, built no doubt in the 19th century and couldn't help but notice the number of large people chomping and drinking in the audience. What a difference in weight there must be between audiences of today with ones 100 years ago. Is there a danger these theatres may one day collapse under the extra weight?
