i recenty got a sony handycam mini dV, which the guy in the shop told me that with the DV In /Out option with an i link, I could transfer edited video from the computer back onto a camcorder tape ( and these results would be the best)
Yet there seems to be no instructions on how to do this, it shows you how to get video from a vcr onto the camcorder, but using this method with the computer nothing happens.
Help, please.

The question i want to ask is what software did you get with the Camcorder.

Secondly in order to tranfer video from the PC [via firewire or IEEE1394], the Sony camera has to be in VCR mode. Thirdly you have to use software to tells the Camcorder that it is being outputed via firwwire. In it you play the file via using the software and as long as the camera is in VCR mode you will see an image being outputted to the Camcorders screen. Now all you have to do is press record on the camcorder. Now as i remember [am power button, there should be a number of options. Now i am not sure what Cam you have so i am basing this on the cam i use to have. There should be a circular nob. If you turn anti-clockwise it should turn the camera on, turn it anti-clockwise again [2 turns anti-clockwise] then it should enable the use of flash memory [thats if your camera has that capability]. Now turn of the Came. Rotate 2 turns clockwise. Now that its of, rotate it a turn clockwise. That should put the camera in VCR mode. Now connect the cam to the PC, use the software that came with the cam [there should be an option in the software that allows VCR output or something along that lines], play the video, it should be outpiuted to the Camcorder.
