And am really struggling to find anything as scary.
Can anyone recommend and films to match these two?
I'm really not looking for horror/gore. I'm after films that are psychologically scary (if that makes sense!)
completely agree, I've seen Hostel, The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw both versions, (and Beginning), Creep.. I can watch anything but The Ring completely scared the crap out of me!

The Japanese version of the Ring petrifies me, the US version I find a lot tamer.
One of the first films to ever really scare me, other than the Ring was The Shining, it really does scare the be jesus out of me. The twins and the river of blood.
Managed to see a screening of the new Rob Zombie remake of the original Halloween last night & i tell you what whilst re-making a classic may be sacrilige it is one of the scariest & goriest horror films i have ever seen.
Going through the childhood of Michael Myers & why he's so messed up is a little much!
If you want a Genuine scary movie then try James Wan's (Director of Saw) Dead Silence. I don't have a thing about Ventroloquist Dolls but this film made me uncomfortable from the onset but yet held my attention all the way through. Expecting at first a Child's Play/Chucky film reject I haven't been terrified in that way since I saw The Ring, The Grudge and Darkness Falls, 3 of my top fave "Freak-em-out" films. If you want to be seriously freaked out then watch this film. If you are (or think you are) made of sterner stuff, give it a shot as the conecpts are very interesting and the twist at the end will boogle your mind.
The Grudge two, US version was a complete let down, it was an obvious attempt at a remake/sequal in order to produce money. The story line was in no way complex merely badly constructed revealing no hint of conclusions whihc only leads the viewer in complete disillusion. Even if they were a series of clive hangers they did not impose the tention and anxiety that most cliff hangers have, and i doubt that if there ever is a sequel that is will be succesful and/or entertaining.
The ring however i personally found to be very unerving especially during the first half, but towards the end it became very apparent that it began to "lag" where scenes continued with the sake of it, and the cliff hanger although considered a very well constructed twist, puts the entire events in complete confusion. I have not unfortunately seen The Ring two, but i hope that it certainly compensates for both films.
