Can anyone help me? A number of years ago channel four ran a season of chinese films one of which I recorded by accident and then partially recorded over before I realised that I had it. All I can remember of the movie is that it was a comedy, there was a lot of martial arts in it and one scene in particular springs to mind. A fight scene by a river, one of the guys was running over the top of parasols held by people, he was trying to protect a woman who had been paralysed by a blow to a nerve point and also using her as a weapon. I know this all sounds a bit vague but I have neither the opening credits of the film or the end of the movie and I would love to track it down so I can find out how it finished. I could be wrong, but it sounds like the film you are talking about is a Jet Li film called Twin Warriors. It wasn't technically a comedy, but it has a lot of humour in it. Michelle Yeoh was in it, but she wasn't the hero's mother, but there is a part in it where he uses an unconcious woman as a weapon while he's trying to protect her from soldiers.

I'm quite sure I saw that too and it wasn't that, though it does have Michelle Yeoh.
As I remember it, the hero is assigned with other warriors to protect a princess as she journeys down a river, and they are ambushed. His mother realises he has forgotten her soup, and goes after him, and gets caught up in the fight as well. She gets parralised with acupressure and the hero has to work out where to hit her to release the paralasis. If I remember it right. Come to think of it I'm not sure if it's the princess who gets paralised. But that is roughly what happens.
