Personally I loved the first sighting of Jack Sparrow, sorry - that's Captain Jack Sparrow on his sinking sorry excuse for a boat casually stepping off onto the jetty. And though it is dated now, the huge spaceship that just keeps com*** at the start of the first Star Wars.

The beginning of Apocalypse now is cool how after the napalm goes straight into the film without starting credits the only film I know which has done this.

I can't believe that 'Saving Private Ryan' hasn't been mentioned - one of the best & most powerful opening sequences I've seen in a film.

Clockwork Orange's is so bleak. Looking straight into the eye of egregious, violent, self-justification. It looks back at you, mocking but also mirroring.
