Am i the only one who seems to appreciate this actor for his acting?...and i suppose eyes too. It's seems to me that because he's starring as Johny Cash in 'Walk the Line' everyone keeps raving on about how similar their lives are: River Phoenix died from an overdose, Joaquin is a recovering alcoholic...and yet noone points out that he's just an amazing actor with incredible potential!? Insanity.
Nope you're not - he gave an amazing performance as Commodus, it was the first time where the downfall of a person can explain their later villany. You witnessed the progress of change in the character from spoiled heir to lunatic empreor - I was very impressed! It was a great performance, he did a flawless English accent and My God he was the sexiest bad guy since I dunno Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber

I think he's an amazing actor. I know the Oscar will most likely go to Seymour Hoffman but Joaquin is certainly deserving because his performance in Walk the Line is amazing plus he did all the singing as well.
-------- Don't Blame Me, I Voted For Stewart/Colbert!
I've never seen a film with him in it where he's been bad. I think he's a great actor. He was great in Buffalo Soldiers, was the best thing about Ladder 49, Signs and The Village , and I loved him in that one with Liv Tyler, Inventing the Abbotts I think it was called. Plus, I think that scar he has adds to his characters, it makes him seem more real, anyone know how he got it?
Buffalo soldiers was fantastique. I dont know how he got the scar but I do know an interesting fact: his real surname was bottom but his father changed it to phoenix in the hope that his children would become sucessfull like he never did, as in a bird rising out of the ashes..no kidding.
Buffalo Soldiers is M.A.S.H for cynics - that was the craziest film I've seen in a while. For the first time I actually bought something on a front-cover basis - I coundn't help it the man was in UNIFORM!! - It was a very surreal plotline

I like him a lot. I thought he was great in Signs and The Village and Buffalo Soldiers was brrrillliant! I haven't seen Walk The Line yet, really want to!
my friend told me that when joaquin phoenix was on T4 promoting walk the line, they asked him to join in with some kind of game and he refused and said something like 'i don't play games', did anyone watch it?
I love Joaquin! He's in my favourite film ever; Clay Pigeons. I recommend it to anyone who appreciates Phoenix as a good actor (and as a sexy gorgeous fella of course!)
