Who else loves this movie? I think its Mickey Rourke's best peformance.

People like you find it easy,
Naked to see,
Walking on air.
Hunting by the rivers,
Through the streets,
Every corner abandoned too soon,
Set down with due care.
Don't walk away in silence,
Don't walk away.

Very disturbing, so mad to see De Niro with those long nails. Ending is pretty dark; Long, long way down to hell. You don't see it but it's quite creepy.

When I first saw this film and seen Luis Cypher (Lucifer) as played with pure menace and brilliance by De Niro, I thought I was looking at the devil (ironic because I don't believe in religion, ha ha). It's reported that he actually had tea with the devil in order to "prepare" for the role which doesn't surprise me one bit! The reason Rourke is so good is because he was trying to out-act De Niro, a futile lesson but nevertheless, it enhanced his performance.

Good Cryptic Name that; Luis Cypher - You think of all the names the big D has but you always forget Lucifer. Ninja

Great film. The last film before Mickey Rourke came off the rails and he is brilliant in it. I have the soundtrack on CD too which is also very good

Can never get around the fact that's it's an eighties film. It has all the grit and complexity of a nineties thriller - If that makes sense!

It is ageing well I think. Its all done in very classic noir style. I find most eighties films difficult to watch now because of the horrible electronic synthesizer soundtracks they have.

Aww but that what makes 'em memorable and get you all misty-eyed; Thief, Blade Runner, BEVERLY HILLS COP Big Grin were great. I don't like films that used too much Saxaphone - That was an obsession in the eighties!

Brilliant film, and yes i'd agree with it being Rourke's stand-out performance, though now Sin City may change that. Angel Heart has one of the best film soundtracks i've ever heard aswell. De Niro sure is menacing...

Some great lines in Angel Heart too

"the future isn't what it used to be Mr Angel"

"There's just enough religion in the world to make men hate, but not enough to make them love"

Could have done without the glowing eyes SFX at the end. Think the point was already made, but what the hell. Rourke and DeNiro burning up the screen. What more could you want?

I watched this when I was very young (way younger than 18), I've since then inherited a VHS copy of it from my sister, I remember being fascinated with it, also I like DeNiro, so I think I'll give it another watch.

Yeah your right it is ageing well, I also love that electronic synthesizer stuff, that's what makes 80s movies, well 80s movies!

Luis Cypher: "You know, some religions think that the egg is the symbol of the soul, did you know that?"
Harry Angel: "No I didn't know that"
Luis Cypher: "Would you like an egg?"
Harry Angel: "No thank you, I've got a thing about chickens"

Ha ha ha! The way De Niro eats the egg is so cool.

I've watched Angel Heart again today and its reminded me how brilliant it is. I also think that recurrence of fans is a great touch too. There's also not much electronic synthesizer in the film actually, its mainly just that saxaphone as archangel01 already mentioned, that was an obsession then!

there is no electronic synthesizer music in Angel Heart, that's why its ageing well and why many films from the eighties don't in my opinion. Thats my point
