Most film series could have been left alone after the first movie. As much as I love 'Die Hard' and 'Lethal Weapon', I would have to say 'Star Trek', simply because it is a series which perhaps surpasses any of the tv shows, and the cast are pretty much associate with 'Star Trek' and nothing else. Also, the series is continually evolving, as opposed to being a rehash of the previous edition.

I have to agree with what claufeild has said about Star Trek, I was brought up on it, the original Sereis that is but I just cant watch it any more becaus the acting is so Hammy it's unreal, if you ever want a good laugh wach somthing called White Apchi(SP?) with Shatner in it, and like Claufeild said they all made a career out of star trek with the exception of Nimoy who went on to a Directing Career. The films though I can watch just about as the acting seems to have been toned down as they have all aged but they still have their moments. As for it being a series, 1 was a stand alone film, 2-4 were on story so to speak and 5 was a stand alone film too with 6 being stand alone to a point but with the history between Kirk and the Klingons but Star Trek has always tried to re-invent itself

My favourite film series'

Back To The Future
Star Wars
LOTR
The Matrix
Die Hard
The Godfather
Indiana Jones

With the exeption of Die Hard and Indiana Jones the ones I picked all told an ongoing story instead of the same characters in the same but different situation

"A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man"

"Embiggens, phfft that isn't even a word"

"Of course it is Lisa, it's a perfectly crumulent word"

it seems from the replies perhaps this should have been "your favourite series or trilogy where you think every single movie is actually great?!"

lol Cool

i should ignore the obvious, but cant (harrison ford StarWars, Alien, BTTF, LOTR, Terminator -yes t3 was decent :P !-) I would probably choose BackToTheFuture as the fave, cant really beat it, although I know many werent too happy with the cowboy 3rd movie, at least they kept trying for something different, and was watchable with some new ideas!

ps Ive heard the new Pirates of the Carribean is terrible compared to the first

i thought the 3rd BTTF wasnt as good as the other two but it was still fantastic. As for pirates of the carribean 2 i dont know who you spoke to but its a fantastic film
