This is related to an early post I made elsewhere, it brought this movie to the forefront of my mind.
I've heard the story is actually a classic.
Bill Murray is an American who leaves the US to live in France. During WWI he is a stretcher bearer but continues to live in France as an aspiring artist. His true love is killed and he has to identify the body.
I'm a bit vague but it's been years since I saw it, I mean more time has passed since I saw this movie than some of you have lived, honestly.

Brilliant, highly recommended serious movie... Bill Murray is excellent.
