These are two good examples of what I'm talking about - Batman Begins was good, but again was a little soulless in the way I have mentioned. The Machinist was interesting, but again was a bit empty. Both should have been great instead they were just ok/good.

I've got to agree with Deus. Every week I go round to a mates where 4 or 5 of us watch one of the latest films he's chosen from Blockbuster. I've seen so much dross; Daywatcher, Rush Hour 3 etc I was expecting Transformers to be in the same category (and I'm not a fan of Hollywood blockbusters) but I was blown away by it.
