Did anyone get to see an advance screening of The Ring Two yesterday? I did and it was completely different from Ring 2. I thought the point was to remake the film, not create a different story. Having said that I do think it would have been hard to remake the film for english audiences, but makes it a tough comparison. What did you guys think?
I watched the original sequel last night - I doubt they'll allow the mother to come to such a sticky end in the remake. The bit where there are in the well seemed a little like Hellraiser 2. I don't think the yanks will use as much myth as the Japanese but we'll see...

From the trailers and promo stuff I've seen this was never called a remake.
It's more of a re-imagining. Look at Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn of The Dead (though it's slightly different) as examples.
The Ring 2 is purely a sequel to The Ring and whereas there maybe some crossover (similar story/scenes) this is supposed to stand alone from the original Japanese Ring Trilogy.

i watched it over the weekend and not only was it a totally different storie but it wasn't scarey and was so cr@p i almost walked out of the theater through bordem(sp). It was nothing compared to the japanese version, at least that explained more to you about the background of the video.

Saw the film yesterday and was very dissappointed, the 'scary' bits were predictable and obvious, didnt really care about any of the charachters whatsoever. I think woman in white dresses with long black hair just is not scary anymore. Hopefully this film will signify the end of the ring franchise. Dont get me started on the deer scene.
